The homie Wil of Culture VI:

KRS-One & Buckshot (tho mostly KRS in this clip) talk about their song Robot, which debuted months ahead of Jay-Z’s “D.O.A.”. Both records were essentially saying the same thing. He talks about the respect that Jay-Z showed in re-using the theme, and also about naming his “Blueprint” series years after KRS released his own album titled “Blueprint”.

He also talks in-dept about embracing the digital age.

Sidenote: Fuck you if you ain’t giving credit to Culture VI and the people who put hard work in to make this shit happen.

Freq talks about working with the Trackmasters, Snoop Dog, Slaughterhouse, and his new artist Adair. He’s been on both sides of the industry – the indie and the major – and he talks about the differences (hint: he prefers indie).

Catch him on tour with Slaughterhouse now!

Shouts to the homie Wil over at Culture VI.

Wil says:

I’ll tell you, I was a Young Chris fan from the Roc-a-fella days – but after speaking with him, I’m really going to be following his career hard. He’s a great artist and has a terrific understanding of the industry.

He speaks to me about the “gift and the curse” of having Jay-Z co-sign him at such an early age. Also speaks about the alleged breakup of State Property, as well as the motives behind giving away so much music.

A great conversation with a great artist.

Wil says:

He’s been best friends with Kanye for almost ten years, so he tells some cool stories about how their friendship started, when he knew Kanye would be a star – and then even spits an old, unreleased Yeezy verse!

Another 88 interview coming next week.
